Strategies In Blackjack
Your goal objective when playing blackjack is to get your cards to add up to a number as close to 21 as possible without going over. Preferably, you want your cards to add up to 21 exactly, or, at the very least, be higher than the final number of the dealer without going higher than 21. Though rules for blackjack may vary from casino to casino, there are basic blackjack strategies to be known, understood, and followed.
Up to seven players can play in one hand of blackjack. It starts out with the dealer handing out 2 cards to each player; one face up and one face down. The dealer deals to him or herself last. At this point, each player looks at his or her concealed card, adds the total of both cards, and then determines what the next best step is. Each player has the option of taking another card from the dealer if he or she assesses that it is necessary to increase the total number, or the player can stand with what he or she has. When you take another card it is called a "hit", and you can be "hit" as many times as you feel necessary. You simply say to the dealer "hit me", and he or she will give you an additional card face up.
Like all other games of chance, blackjack strategies aim for the players to win. It is a good idea to remember a few basic blackjack strategies, like if the dealer's up card is a seven or higher you should play until you reach 17 or higher. If the dealer's up card is higher than a three but lower than a six and your cards are less than twelve, you should play to twelve, or if they are equal to or more than twelve, you should stand. If the dealer's face up card is a six, you should stand at twelve or higher. To ensure your best chances of being a winner at blackjack, you should study and memorize the basic strategy chart that will illustrate for you all these basic blackjack strategies that have been mentioned, plus more.
Once all the players stand, then the dealer plays his or her own hand. First the face down card is flipped over, and the dealer must hit until his or her total is 17 or higher. If the dealer goes over 21, or "busts", all the players in the game win. Otherwise, it is between the dealer and each player individually, and whoever is closer to 21 between the player and the dealer wins.
